About Wellness Compass
A lot can happen between feeling tired and actually feeling rested.
There is the hour you go to bed, certainly. But there is also morning light, caffeine timing, stress, exercise, naps, temperature, noise, bedding, routines, recovery, and the peculiar habit many of us have of scrolling through advice about sleep when we should probably be sleeping.
Wellness Compass is interested in that whole picture.
We are a wellness publication devoted to sleep, rest, recovery, and the spaces where those things happen. Our job is not to turn bedtime into another performance metric. It is to investigate the habits, ideas, products, research, and environmental details surrounding rest—and help readers figure out what is genuinely worth paying attention to.
Sometimes the answer is surprisingly small.
Sometimes it requires more context.
Either way, we would rather leave you understanding something than merely give you another rule to follow.
Welcome to Wellness Compass.
What You'll Find Here
Sleep Habits
The behaviors and rhythms that shape the night before your head reaches the pillow. Sleep Habits explores the everyday patterns connected with sleep: bedtime and wake schedules, light exposure, caffeine, naps, exercise timing, screens, evening routines, travel, weekend schedule shifts, sleep tracking, and the small behavioral choices that influence when and how we wind down.
Rest & Recovery
Because recovery is bigger than the eight hours everyone keeps talking about. Rest & Recovery looks at what happens when the body and mind need a lower gear. We cover physical recovery, rest days, fatigue, relaxation practices, post-exercise recovery, stress and sleep connections, naps, restorative downtime, and the increasingly crowded world of recovery tools and trends.
Bedroom & Environment
The room is part of the routine. Your bedroom cannot guarantee good sleep, but the environment around you can influence comfort and sleep conditions.
Bedroom & Environment investigates temperature, lighting, noise, mattresses, pillows, bedding, air quality, blackout solutions, bedroom technology, organization, sleep products, and the practical design choices surrounding rest.
Grounded Wisdom for Rested Living
Our core focus is helping you cultivate deep, restorative rest and balanced daily energy through clear-headed, evidence-aware guidance.
Our Uncompromising Research Rules
To ensure that every article, environmental guide, and habit breakdown on Wellness Compass offers genuine depth and practical value, we abide by four strict editorial standards:
🌙
Evidence-Aware Integrity
We dig deep into published sleep research, physiological studies, and environmental data before writing a single word. We never rely on vague wellness claims or marketing buzzwords, making sure our advice is backed by solid, reputable science.
🛏️
Real-Home Testing
Our environmental reviews and sleep product evaluations take place in actual bedrooms, not clinical laboratories or pristine showrooms. We test bedding materials, blackout curtains, and sound machines over weeks of daily use across varying seasons to report how they hold up in real homes.
🕰️
Measured, Nuanced Perspective
We avoid extreme claims, quick-fix promises, and wellness alarmism. If a trending recovery technique has limited evidence or only offers minor benefits, we tell you directly so you can spend your time and money on changes that actually make a difference.
🧭
Behavior Insight
Guiding you with precision, we focus on behavior changes tailored for sustainable sleep improvement. Our content empowers you with knowledge and strategies that focus on natural rhythms, without delving into medical territory.
Our Team
Gray Richardson
Sleep & Recovery Editor
Gray built Wellness Compass around a simple editorial frustration: sleep advice is often either too vague to use or so elaborate that rest starts sounding like a second job. She brings a measured eye to the site, particularly when a wellness claim sounds neater than the evidence behind it. Her instinct is to find the useful part, add the missing context, and leave readers with a clearer question rather than an exaggerated promise.
Seanne Gomez
Senior Sleep Editor
Seanne likes the details that change an otherwise straightforward recommendation. Timing, consistency, light, individual schedules, and the difference between feeling relaxed and actually feeling sleepy tend to catch his attention. Her editing style is structured and calm, with enough skepticism to keep broad sleep rules from becoming universal ones.
Brent Salvador
Rest & Wellness Editor
Brent is interested in what people mean when they say they need to “recharge.” He brings a practical perspective to questions of rest, energy, pacing, and recovery, with an emphasis on separating restorative habits from habits that simply feel like stopping. His work keeps the idea of recovery grounded in real schedules rather than idealized routines.
The Wellness Compass Philosophy
We view rest not as a reward you earn after exhausting yourself, but as the essential foundation that makes everything else in life vibrant, satisfying, and sustainable. Taking care of your mind and body should never feel like an all-or-nothing test or a source of daily anxiety.
We don't believe in chasing extreme wellness trends, spending small fortunes on unproven gadgets, or stressing over a single night of poor sleep. Instead, we champion a warm, curious, and grounded approach: understanding your body’s natural signals, creating a tranquil environment that invites natural rest, and giving yourself permission to recover at your own pace.
